Dikstein's Corner Bar

Dikstein's Corner Bar
Corner Bank Place and Little Collins St, Melbourne
(Ph) 9642 0943

We were planning to go to Pie Face to redeem our free pies but I stupidly left the vouchers at home and we had walked to corner of Queen St and Little Collins St before I realised I didn't have the vouchers with me =( They wouldn't let me just show them the voucher on my iPhone they need the physical voucher - boo =(

So we walked back towards Spencer St and walked past a few bars selling $10 pizzas - P initially said he didn't want to go to them 'cause they would take too long to bring out the food. But we kept walking past them and in the end we decided to go in one instead of keep walking and wasting time, since we had a time restraint. So we walked in Dikstein's Corner Bar - which from the outside we saw many business men enjoying delicious looking pizzas =)

The menu was quite limited - we knew we wanted a pizza each for $10.90

I ordered the Pork belly with sugar roasted pears 'cause it sounded interesting and after the delicious pork at Chin Chin I wanted some more =D and P ordered the Spicy meatballs, napoli and parmesan.

After 20mins our pizzas still hadn't arrived - there weren't that many tables downstairs, about 4-5, and we hadn't seen any pizzas come out so we were really confused what the chefs were doing. P went and asked the waiter to chase up the pizzas, and the waiter said they had a full house upstairs and the chefs were doing their orders but ours was coming very soon. Wow the little corner bar turned out to be quite a big bar afterall =P

We were so hungry and yay finally our pizzas came =D

Pork belly with sugar roasted pears

Gourmet pizzas always look so delicious even though there is minimal ingredients on them =P My pizza was delicious with tender pieces of pork amongst slices of pear which I thought was a bit strange but went very well with the pork. I thought pork normally goes well with apple? Though I've never had pear on a pizza before - the pear pieces were a bit bland with the cheese and the pork made up the flavour. Crust was deliciously crunchy and thin =)

P's pizza was very delicious too, and yes, with minimal ingredients - one meatball on each slice of pizza =P It tasted like spag bol but better 'cause it's on a delicious crust =P P liked his pizza more than mine but I think mine is more unique =)

After these gourmet pizzas we decided to try make our own gourmet pizzas with pancetta, bocconcini and rocket - tada! =D

Home-made pancetta, bocconcini and rocket pizza

Don't think we need to come back to this bar anymore - we can make the pizzas ourselves now =P

8/10
